Predator Paddle

The first thought that came into my mind when i took a paddle apart 10 years ago was, “there just has to be something out there better than what i am holding in my hand.” for years i became more and more concerned about the quality, pre-mature failure and embedded defects of all three paddles on the market. I finally contacted every maunfacturer to voice my concern. Only one agreed to listen.

I visited seattle in 2005 with a bag full of defective paddles and a plea for someone to listen to my ideas. It didn’t take long for everyone to agree there was indeed a problem but finding a fix was a lot more complicated than i realized. On the last day of my visit i was shown a new material just coming on the market and asked if i would be interested in testing a paddle made of the new material.

It arrived a few months later and even though it looked like every other paddle, it felt and played different from anything i had ever had in my hand. Years later, i still play with this very same paddle.

It was slightly heavier.

That ment the core material, the heart of any paddle, was denser and would extend the life expectency of the paddle.

It had a completely new grip.

A cushion/ribber “gamma” vented grip had replaced the short lifed, cheap, wrap that had always been on paddles. The ball-on-paddle trauma was greatly reduced.

The handle was smaller in the center.

Handles on paddles had always been too large and this change created a “hand cradle” for better feel and reduced slippage.

A new bonding material was used to attach the edgeguard

Not even i know their secret but it works.

A unique surface material was used for the 1st time.

Don’t be confused by the terms providers use like graphite, fiberglass, or carbon/fiber. They mean little (maybe nothing) it’s the quality of the core material that makes a paddle great. The word graphite is frequently used to justify charging you more for a paddle.

The predator pickleball paddle has been used in florida for 3 years and only recently has there been sufficient material available to offer the predator to a larger market.

There were 50 gold medals awarded in last years florida regional senior games. 49 winners played with my paddles.

The Kryptonite II Paddle

Most players that like a 7.0 oz (or less) composite paddle like it for its light weight
fell in their hand. That is the second worse reason for you to ever buy a paddle. The first
worse reason to buy a paddle is to buy it for its color. You have to swing a light weight
paddle harder and swinging hard creates more hitting mistakes. Swinging hard sooner or
later leads to awful tennis elbow. The next mistake most players make is they like the idea
of their paddle being "graphite." Which again means little because the surface of a paddle
is the only part that is graphite and that's only 1% of the entire paddle. Many players
think when they buy a graphite paddle it is solid graphite. You should buy a composite
paddle based on the weight rating given the core material by the manufacturer. Problem is
no one ever gives you that information because they probably don't know themselves. So,
what do you do?

You buy a paddle from someone who knows that stuff, will share the benefits of that
information with you and from someone you can learn to trust. My contribution to gaining
your trust is i will refund your money on any paddle you are un-comfortable with after
using it for 7 days.

I build paddles from composite core material that is rated for its density. the more dense
the core material the longer it will last. The kryptonite II paddle weighs 7 3/4 oz and has
a carbonfiber surface over a 4.5 pounds per sq. foot rated composite core. We call it the
kryptonite II because the kryptonite I was a mistake. You see, we didn't know as much about
paddles as we thought we did when we first started but we learned what we needed to do to
make it better, and did.

The Apike Paddle

Since all leaders have a tendency to want the best equipment - we are pleased to announce the arrival of the very popular Apike paddle displayed below in the various colours available. This paddle is smooth, colourful as you can see, unibody with no edges, QUIETER than others, low impact and high bounce in its characteristics. It is light weight (approx. 7oz), easy to use, uniformly balanced, and fun to play with. The most common comment we receive is " I love it" - it makes for a very lively game. It is available in regular grip or AVF ( anti vibration factor) grip which takes the vibrations incurred in hitting the ball and concentrating those vibrations in the handle . Hence it is easier on the elbows, shoulders and backs. Made of court-shoe type material it is very sturdy and high end in appearance. The core is made of a special foam composite that deflects the ball with ease. Hence you only have to point the paddle and the ball will bounce there. Wow. To date, in engineering studies, it has been shown that this paddle does not produce more spin, nor does it provide more speed. Most of this effect is produced by the player not the paddle or the ball. This Apike paddle was developed in South Surrey BC Canada and manufactured to our specifications offshore. No other paddle compares. Please let us know what you think of the Apike paddle by submitting your story here.
